We Dressed in Hanbok at Changdeokgung Palace
One of the things that I have always wanted to try while travelling in South Korea was to wear their traditional clothing, a Hanbok. It’s a great thing that my friend wanted to do it, too.
We purchased a voucher at Klook to wear traditional-styled Hanbok for 2.5-hours with a locker included to keep our stuff. I have to admit that the choices are quite limited for traditional Hanbok, but they were quite beautiful.
Walking Around in Hanbok
We walked around Changdeokgung Palace in Hanbok. If you’re wearing one, the entrance is free! We were supposed to do the Secret Garden Tour, but the line was quite long, and we did not want to waste time waiting in line. Pro Tip: Book your tickets to the Secret Garden in advance.
A lot of locals, especially the older women, often complimented us. How we looked beautiful in Hanbok. Funny story, after the ahjummas complimented me from the front, they noticed how my skirt from the back was not fixed well and it showed my inner white skirt, so at least four persons tried to fix it for me. My skirt was a little long, so I will trip if I don’t pull up my skirt while walking, so I guess it was partly my fault that the inner skirt was showing from the back, but those ahjummas were so kind! They would always fix it for me.
Also, I lost my transition eyeglasses inside Changdeokgung Palace. We tried to look for it by retracing our steps. I also went to check their office to see if someone dropped it off there, but…it was really gone. It was expensive and I lost it. It was my first time losing something during a trip.
Overall, we enjoyed taking lots of photos around the palace. It is something that you must do when traveling to South Korea, wear their traditional clothing, a Hanbok!
