2 Days in Busan – exploring the seaside of South Korea
We took the KTX to Busan from Seoul Station early in the morning. My friend, Nina and I, were pleasantly surprised about how fast and comfortable the trains were. Our seats were facing the opposite direction, but I did not experience any dizziness, which was great, considering I have vertigo.
Once we arrived, we looked for our Airbnb. We had a little trouble finding it, but the locals were quite helpful. I asked for directions in my broken Korean, but we managed to find it. After settling down, we headed to Heaundae Beach.
Haeundae Beach (해운대해수욕장)
Haeundae Beach was a place that I have seen so many times from Korean dramas and variety shows, so when I finally got to see it in person, it felt surreal. The place felt familiar and new at the same time. We didn’t get to dip in the sea, it was too cold for that, but we just hung out for a bit and took a lot of photos.
How To Get There
Take the metro and get off at Haeundae Station (Busan Subway Line 2) and go to Exit 5 or 7.
Haedong Yonggungsa Temple (용궁사)
It was our first time being in a temple that looks out to the sea. It was such a beautiful sight! My variety-show-loving self felt familiar to the place as I’ve seen it in so many Korean variety shows. Your naked eye is the best photographer, my camera didn’t do it justice.
Here are some more photos:
How To Get There
Take a bus 181 from Haeundae Station Exit 7 and get off at Yonggungsa Temple approximately 20 minutes. There will be a stone post that indicates the direction of the temple. Walk uphill for another 10 minutes to get to the temple or take taxi if you don’t feel like walking.
Oryukdo Skywalk (오륙도 스카이워크)
We arrived early in the morning and there was only a handful of people, which was great! We were able to explore the place in our pace. What I liked about the area was that it’s beside the sea and it was calming. The only thing that I am a little bit disappointed on was that the skywalk was really short in my standards (see here).
There’s a little cafe where you can get some hot drinks and snacks. We stayed there for a little bit before heading out back to the city center, riding the same Bus 27.
How To Get There
From Busan Station (Busan Subway Line 1), go to Exit 10 and take bus 27. Get off at Oryukdo SK View Humun (Backgate) Bus Stop (25 stops). Walk ahead about 275 m to reach the destination.
Gamcheon Culture Village
It rained before we arrived in the village so it was quite gloomy during our visit, but that didn’t stop us from exploring this colorful place! There are so many little shops and cafes to explore. The artworks were so beautiful, too!
There’s a little shop where you can design your own postcard. When I go overseas, I always get a postcard and send it to myself as a souvenir. My postcard arrived months later, because I think they send it in bulk.
My postcard arrived a few months later. I think they send it in bulk. I love getting snail mail, even if it’s the one I sent to myself!
