Instagrammable Creative Parks

Instagrammable is a term used for all things worth posting on Instagram. In Taiwan, there are so many places worth posting on Instagram, but there are creative parks that seem to be dedicated for it. Well, I think I just decided that fact. All the photos here were taken by my sister from Plump Cheeks. Give her some love :)Huashan 1914 Creative Park

Huashan Creative 1914 Park was renovated in 2007 by the Taiwan Cultural-Creative Development Co. Ltd. The space hosts Taiwan’s cultural activities, and a lot of artisans sell handmade clothes, toys, home items, etc. Apart from that, there are so many areas that are worth being photographed at.

How to get there:
Ride the subway and alight at Zhongxiao Xinsheng Station and take Exit 1. Walk straight for about a block until you see an underpass. When you see the giant red diamond, Huashan Creative Park is just across the street. There are signs pointing towards it once you get out of the MRT, so don’t worry about getting lost.

Songshan Cultural and Creative Park

A lot of art exhibitions are being held at Songshan Cultural and Creative Park. When we visited, we were lucky to happen upon a big exhibit going on. We also met some artists that had their pieces on display. If you want to bring home unique souvenirs, this is the place to get them. A lot of artisans display their arts and crafts outside the arts venue. Some even create customized jewelry that you can wear or gift to somebody.

How to get there:
Ride the subway and alight at Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall Station and take Exit 5. Follow this Google path to arrive at the park.

Taipei Cinema Park

Back-stretching. I wanted to bring this home.

If you love seeing amazing graffiti, then head over to Taipei Cinema Park. Not only does it have amazing wall art, a lot of youth come here to practice dancing. When we came to the park, a lot of people were riding skateboards, doing photo shoots, filming a music video, and practicing dance. The park is surrounded by old factories that creates a somewhat gritty vibe, but don’t worry, it’s safe to go there and hangout.

How to get there:
Ride the subway and alight at Ximen Station and take Exit 6. From there it’s an 8-minute walk towards the park.

Pier-2 Art Center

What I loved about this art center are the exhibits. We paid $120NTD and was able to view the current exhibits at Pier-2 Art Center. At that time, we saw Childhood Memories Collapsed (童年的逆襲). They presented modern versions of fairy tale characters and superheroes in real life. They tore down the illusion of perfection in the hope of bring out the hidden truths.

Here are some photos from the exhibit:

You can check their website for the schedule.

How to get there:
This art center is located in Kaohsiung. If you have a 3 Day THSR Tourist Pass, you can arrive in Kaohsiung in about 90-minutes. We actually took an Uber to get there, since there were four of us, so we can split. But if you’re taking the KMRT, alight at Yenchengpu Station of Orange line (O2) of KMRT and take the No. 1 exit. It takes about 5 minutes of walk on Da-Yong road south bound.
