raining

Nobody likes to travel when it’s raining. It can dampen your mood, and you will feel like the day is wasted. Even though I usually check AccuWeather.com, the weather is truly unpredictable, as it changes in a blink of an eye.

During our trip last October, it rained twice during our stay. In case you forgot to bring an umbrella, you can buy them at any convenience store for ₩3000 to ₩4000. I brought them home in Manila. They’re quite sturdy, it didn’t break even though it was windy.

Places That Are Rain-Proof

War Memorial of Korea

Heading to a museum is not always someone’s cup of tea, but it can be very enlightening when you learn about the history of the country that you are visiting. What I liked about the War Memorial of Korea is the fact that you don’t need a guide to understand what they are showcasing. There are screens where you can select your language, and a presentation will narrate the backstory.

COEX Aquarium

It was our last day in Seoul, but it was a rainy Tuesday, so we decided to head for a place where we can avoid getting soaked. COEX Aquarium was our top pick. This aquarium is smaller than the S.E.A. Aquarium in Singapore, but it is big enough to spend at least 1.5 hours in. It is easy to navigate the whole aquarium, because we you just have to follow the big arrows to go to different sections. There are interesting sections that

Bauhaus Cafe

In our previous trip to Seoul, we went to a dog cafe because we were missing our furbabies. It’s a good way to release stress from traveling, specially if you love dogs. There’s another one in Myengdong, but I’ve seen videos from that cafe, and I still recommend going to Bauhaus instead. You must order a drink in order to hangout at the cafe with those fluffy bundles of joy!

Eat Korean BBQ at Meat-ing

The best way to beat the rain is to eat! On our last night in Seoul last October, we decided to pig out on MEAT. I did a bit of research and found Meat-Ing. The menu is pretty simple, they are all MEAT!

Different kinds of pork, beef, bacon; marinated; there are various side dishes and sausages, there’s rice and pasta, too. In my opinion, the price plus the food are worth it!

Visitor Information:
Operating Hours:

4:00PM to 12:00MN (Dinner) – ₩13,900 per person
*Please keep in mind that you can only stay for 1.5hours, and you can’t have leftovers, that includes the vegetables/side dishes, else you will pay

How to get there:
Take the subway and alight at Hongdae Station (Hongik University Stn), and take Exit 9. Turn left right away and walk past Tony Moly, then turn right, walk straight. You should see Meat-ing on the left side. In case you get lost, since some shops change and Tony Moly might not be there anymore, just ask where Meat-ing is, the locals know!

When you’re already outside and it starts to rain, the next best thing to do is to find shelter. Don’t feel down when this happens. Sometimes you discover little shops and hole-in-the-wall restaurants during these times.

When you travel, you don’t always get the perfect weather, but what you do when there’s rain on the way, is what makes the trip!
