Here is the third installment of our South Korea adventure. I know…it took too long for me to write my blogs, but here it is! Enjoy!

Dongdaemun Design Plaza

DDP

Yep, we were sporting our winter fashion on DDP, where Seoul Fashion Week is always held. Unfortunately, we were too early that day. We didn’t get to go inside. Sigh.

There is a museum inside and exhibitions, depending on the season. For more information you can visit their website.

Visitor Information
Operating Hours: 10:00-19:00
(extended on Wednesdays & Fridays 10:00-21:00)
Closed on Mondays.

How to get there:
Take the subway and alight at Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station (Seoul Subway Line 2, 4 ,5) and Exit 1.

Lotte Fitin / K-Live

k-live

Our goal was to buy KPOP goodies. My sister and I are fans of GOT7, so we went to K.Art Offline Store to look for some GOT7 stuff. They have clothes, stationery, dolls, magnets, and loads more. But I only bought one pillow.

Visitor Information:
Operating Hours are weekdays : 1:30 PM ~ 9:00 PM (Closed every Monday)

How to get there:
Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station (Seoul Subway Line 2, 4, and 5), Exit 11 or 12. K-live is located on the 9th floor and 10th floor of Lotte FitIn. For reservation and schedules, please check their website.

Myeongdong

myeong

If you love makeup like my sister, Juvy of Plump Cheeks, then Myeongdong is heaven for you. Korean makeup brands are all over the place. The only store that I really indulged in was Innisfree. I bought their “green tea” line, from the toner, moisturizer, serum, and facial wash. Plus their BB Cushion and some makeup.

streefood

If you love street food, then by 4PM, vendors start opening their carts in the middle of the street. Most street foods are 1000KRW only, so ready your stomachs to EAT!

Another place to shop for KPOP goods is at Myeongdong Exit 5.

How to get there:
Take the subway and alight at Myeongdong Station and walk towards Exit 6.

Trick Eye Museum

trick-eye

Since it rained that day, we looked for an alternative place to go, and we decided to go to Hongdae. It’s very tricky to find the museum, as the sign outside is in Korean, but since I’m using an app with GPS, we found it!

There are three museums:

  • Love Museum, which is a very naughty museum;
  • The Ice Museum, where it’s 0°C cold; and the
  • Trick Eye Museum, where we spent the most time.

Visitor Information:
Operating Hours: 9am to 9pm, open everyday.
Website: Trick Eye Museum

How to get there:
Take the subway and alight at Hongdae Station (Subway Line 2) and go to Exit 9, then walk straight for 200m until you see Starbucks.

  1. Hello! May I when did you go to Korea? Exact dates 🙂 Could you also give an advice about the clothing? My friends and I are planning to go there this November (20-25), we’re not sure with the season, is it still autum season during that time? Appreciate your response!

    Thanks

    1. Hi, Trish! The first time we went was Nov 26 to Dec 1, winter time. By the time you arrive, it will be very cold. It’s basically winter. So you need jackets with fleece, thermal wear (there’s heattech at Uniqlo). Dress warmly! Make sure you wear warm socks, wear gloves, and bonnet. Trust me, IT IS VERY COLD! Get the extra warm heattech from Uniqlo. Good luck!
